First to Blink

Here in this oasis

Something in me shifts

I’ve never been so overcome

By mercy I am kissed

I dare not glance away

I could anchor here for days

And simply drink ....

My eyes are you are focused

All heavy burdens lift

Erupting with sweet waves of love

Exploding from my lips

Your beauty bids me stay

So immersed in depths of holiness

I sink

All the world becomes a haze

As our eyes lock in a gaze

How my heart could almost burst

But I know I’ll be the first

To blink!

At times I need to open

Rooms I’d rather hide

They’re places I’m still broken

Where I was traumatised

I feel your arm around me

As both your heart and mine beat

In sync

So deep now is our union

How sweet and how profound

I’d say I was a hooligan

But now my mind is sound

With you I’m so well taught

That even your own thoughts

I can’t believe you brought us

Into this garden lush

Where listening to the chorus

Of waterfalls that gush
