Hallelujah I was Born Again

I give you thanks for the day
I came to the altar

Where the whole of heaven
Constantly bows down
I want to praise you for the many
New sons and daughters
That were lost
But today are heaven-bound
For when I had been immersed
In the life-changing river
I stood up - but the old me stayed down
When this brand-new creation
Stepped out of the water
Hallelujah
The sinner in me drowned
I will sing a song of praise
For the love of Christ my Saviour
Whose blood washed me clean from every stain
For you filled me with your grace
And poured on me such favour
Hallelujah, I was born again
So when I come before the throne
I’m soaked in your sweet presence
For I know, I’m the apple of your eye
Now beloved of the Father
And a citizen of heaven
I can walk with my head held high
I confess that there are days
When my face can look sullen
I forget that you now reign in me inside
That in your grace I have been raised
In your authority to govern
As a king, as a priest, as your bride
I will sing a song of praise
For the love of Christ my Saviour
Whose blood washed me clean from every stain
For you filled me with your grace
And poured on me such favour
Hallelujah, I was born again
