Let Love Come

Love is already here. In fact, she has always been here, since the very beginning.  She

does not announce her presence loudly, but your heart can already sense her.  She speaks softly but with a voice that is sure and strong. She moves slowly and gently around the room in a beautiful and graceful dance.  She is not in a rush. To begin with, you may not see anything other than the faintest flicker of light, or feel a peace and softness in the air. But know that she is there.  She listens carefully.  She pays attention.  She knows what to say and how to say it.  She knows exactly what you need and how you receive best.

Love sees all of the empty and dry places, places of deep pain, shame, fear and wounding in our hearts .. and she comes to each place one by one. Those places that have never before seen the light of her presence.  She comes quietly, slowly and softly.. Pouring herself out so carefully because she knows that each one is delicate and needs gentle handling.  And she knows exactly how much love and comfort to pour out over each one.  She shares herself freely and holds nothing back.

Love comes even to those who are still fighting and trying to hide themselves away.  Those carrying the heavy weight of shame who feel that they are not worthy of her presence.  Those who have convinced themselves that they can live without her. Those whose hearts have become so hard as they have fought the fiercest of battles, battles over their very existence.  These are the deeply courageous ones who have cried silently and alone for many years, crushed by pain and not comforted, wondering if anyone will ever come for them.  Wondering if anyone can hear their cries.  But love can!  She sees them, and she alone knows what these ones have been through.  She has been patiently waiting for them to come home, with deep compassion in her eyes. And she delights to flow to the lowest places, to those who need her the most. 

Love comes to these hidden ones.  She takes her time.  She comes and patiently waits.  And waits.  As long as it takes for them to feel safe again.  Some she embraces and wraps in her arms.  Some she draws close to her heart.  Some she whispers gently to, and strokes their hair as she lays them down to sleep.  Others she rocks in her arms, singing a soft lullaby.  And still others, she just sits beside, giving them the space they need until that moment when they finally feel safe and at peace enough to trust her and let go.  That is the moment when she begins to pour herself out and heal each wounded and shattered heart, displacing every fear within and covering each one with perfect love. 

Love is patient and deeply kind.  There is no need to be afraid of her.  She brings new life and hope.  She brings the chance to be reborn as a little child who has always been dearly loved, the chance to start again and to receive beauty for your ashes.  The chance to get back up onto your feet again, feeling the strength of her presence rising within you.  

Love never gives up.  She will not be moved.  She initiates.  She always believes in you and is not ashamed to be seen with you.  She is not afraid of your mess, she does not care what you look like, and she will stand with you when all the others walk away.  She will never condemn you for not having yourself together, and you are never too much for her.  She delights to look at you, even if you are not yet able to meet her gaze.  She sees you differently.

Love will always be your greatest encourager, and she welcomes you to her table with open arms.  She knows who you really are, and she will never leave or forsake you.  She believes for your breakthrough even when you cannot yet see the way ahead.  Even when you are too weak and exhausted to go on, she will fight for you and defend you until the very end. Love always wins. She says “Will you let Me help you? Remember - we do this together.  You don’t have to figure it out on your own anymore.  It’s my delight to help you!”. Love can be trusted. She will never mislead or manipulate you. Let her guide you as you journey deeper.

Love is the lifter of your head, the one who makes a way where there seems to be no way, and the one who imparts courage to your heart to take one more step.   Love is the way in, the way through and the way on. Love sees you, and she can find you wherever you are.  She knows the size of your lack, and she is enough to fill up every empty space in your heart- no pain or trauma is too much for her. She does not withhold herself from you.  She is easy to find and easy to be with.  She will not leave you comfortless.

Even if you do not understand what is happening, love will freely pour herself out over you.  She gives generously to all, not asking that you do anything in return other than open your heart as much as you are able and simply receive her as a gift.  She willingly sacrifices and lays down her life for you.. She always has time for you - you will never have to miss out, or make do with what is left over.  Everything she has is for you!  Love has no limits, and she is always more than enough for you.

  But Love will not force herself upon you.  She will wait patiently until you are ready, and she will go at your pace.  She always treats you with honour and respect.  She knows, she understands, she cares, and she knows what to do.  There is no judgment found within her.  She will never accuse you or reject you.  Love is pure, and she is full of mercy, grace and truth. She will always speak a better word over you, and she receives you for who you truly are. Love will always come for you, and she will never ever stop loving you.

 Love is the safe place of rest and home that your heart has always been longing for.  The place where you have always belonged and where you get to dwell for the rest of eternity.
