Orange Tip

Whenever May comes round, I see the orange tip
It’s not so easily found, unless you long for it
It’s something you’d forget, unless you savour it
You can see one on demand if you want to pay for it
But that’s a sin !
All butterflies are rich in such varieties
Victorians illustrated them in diaries
As they flicker by I realise how much fun this is
Like I fully realise how vital honey is
Even if the makers of it sting
Creation’s an expression of a realm of greater bliss
Where butterflies have even more amazing wings
Cos every time I get to see another orange tip
It makes my heart
To God, my Father sing
Egyptians may impress us with their obelisks
But I don’t care - they can just get on with it
I can’t be bothered with another shopping list
While I sit among the flowers in awe as the orange tip
Flutters its wings
It amazes me how the Father created them
Wildlife trusts make sure we’re saving them
The females are white, but the males - he painted them
Bright tangerine, the shade of geraniums and things
Garlic mustard is the favourite of this friend of mine
Required for nurturing its family line
How glorious are these butterflies of different kinds
How beautifully it radiates its clear design
By creation’s King
As the sparkling sea displays its coloured ships
I glory just how magnificent creation is
A song of praise and worship spills from my lips
Cos every time I spot another orange tip
Joyfully I sing !!
