PALM SUNDAY
A triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem,
Here, He was greeted by cheering crowds
Waving their gathered palm branches
And setting out on the road along His path.
Streets were alive with singing voices,
'Hosanna, Hosanna to the King of Kings'
They welcomed him like their best friend
In a short time, their cheers turn to jeers.
Was Jesus riding into triumphal danger
Words of 'Hosanna' soon turn into ‘crucify’
Jesus knew He had to obey his father's will
A fate now sealed at the hands of accusers.
Did this crowd fully understand their shouts
He was trading places for their own souls
As Good Friday was now appending
When God would give his one and only son.

ANOINTING AT BETHANY
The perfume was expensive
Her devotion to Him was great
A woman's simple act of kindness
As she poured it over His feet
This drew criticism by the disciples
No more than by Judas Iscariot
They believed it was a wasted excess
Jesus received it as it was meant
She prepared Jesus for his burial
He says the poor will stay with them
For this was to be the father’s will
What love is this that came from Him?

THE CROSS LEADS US HOME
For all the roads we've travelled
Those known and the uncertain
There is only one to try and follow
It’s the cross that guides our way
Along the broad and narrow way
Through every storm and diversion
On all the footpaths, we love to walk
It's the cross that leads us home
We often think we know the way
Turning off the voice of the satnav
But roads of yesterday differ today
For it is the cross that guides our way
When all roads lead us to a crossroads
Jesus says, "I am the way and the life
For it is the cross that leads the way
It's the cross that leads us home.

THE CHARACTERS
Some will certainly disobey.
Few turned their face away.
Others questioned His ministry.
One will knowingly betray.
Religious leaders full of jealousy.
Crowds are heard shouting crucify.
Faithful ones will stay close by.
Someone would deny.
The disciples later will run away.
Jesus has won the victory.

THE LAST SUPER
Gathered are twelve men
All are disciples of Jesus
Sharing super all together
Hearing their masters’ words
Yet, around this prepared feast
There was one who would betray
As another in time will deny Him
Yet Jesus shows them humility
After supper, He took the bread
Broke it with those still gathered
This is my body broken for you
Eat this bread in remembrance of me
Then he took the wine and said:
This is my blood poured out for you
Drink from my cup and think of me
This my new covenant is with you.

GOOD FRIDAY
They say it's 'Good Friday '
A day my Lord died for me
Hanging on a tree at Calvary
Amazing love; how can it be
It's said He was taking my place
Cancelling our transgressions
As the nails pierced His flesh
And a crown of thorns on his head
This was the day of Jesus' plight
For three hours, earth saw no light
The temple curtain was torn in two
As the earth shook 'n' the rock split.

EASTER REALITY
Easter falls in the Spring
Be it a season of new life
A hope of things to come
A declaration of sacrifice.
Today, some will sit and ponder
Some will enjoy it like a holiday
Others will use this time to pray
As we all await 'Resurrection Day.
A declaration of divine love
One who yesterday died for us
To set we who are sinners free
This is the true Easter to me.

JUST AS HE SAID
Woman, there is no need to cry
When seeing the stone rolled away
For your lord master is risen today
This is the greatest day in history
O' Death, thou have been defeated
The price for sin has been paid
Jesus has risen just as he said
Hallelujah - let the Lord be praised
Today, let all our Joy be untamed
Through Christ, freedom is gained
Rejoice, rejoice, for the Lord is good
His grace and mercy shall never end.
