The Joy Set Before Us

With such a great cloud of witnesses surrounded,

Throw off everything that hinders confounded.

The sin that so easily entangled,

And holds us like hands on our throats strangled.

Let us run the race of life with endurance,

Marked out before us with perseverance.

 And fix our eyes on Jesus, the Faith Perfector,

The one who leads and guides us, our Great Protector.

For the joy set before Him the Cross He endured,

Sitting down at the right hand of God ensured.

Who suffered a life with sinners’ opposition,

Being obedient to God's Great Commission.

So now consider where you are, so weary,

Enduring the sins of others is so dreary.

And in a place of discouragement and lost heart,

Look unto Jesus and receive a fresh new start.
