Draw close to me my people
My beautiful, my priesthood
Lay your tears upon my cheek
And draw close
Oh my darling one, my bride
How I long for you to know me
You’re the apple of my eye
And I love you so
Though you still feel the trauma
And you’ve nowhere else to go to
I’m your strong supporter
And carrier of your load
However tough it’s been
You face a brighter future
The most glorious of days
You ever might suppose
For I will always be
Your guide and your tutor
My fame and majesty
Your sweet red rose
You’re the source of my delight
Though you feel like a failure
When there’s pain in the night
I’m here as your saviour
I hear you say enough’s enough
And you’ve nothing left to stay for
But I’m pouring out my love
To make the valley of Anchor
A door of hope
Well I know how it still hurts
When your heart still remembers
When you waded through the dirt
And the pain won’t go
There was a big mistake
That as a nation you have paid for
To preserve the unity
Of the whole
Though memories remain
In the valley of your trouble
I’ll always be the healer
And lover of your soul
Though you walk through the valley
Of death’s groaning sorrows
I want you to be happy
From your head to your toes
Cos I love you today
And I’ll love you still tomorrow
My love will never change
This truth you need to know
You’re the source of my delight
Though you feel like a failure
When there’s pain in the night
I’m here as your saviour
I hear you say enough’s enough
And you’ve nothing left to stay for
But I’m pouring out my love
To make the valley of Anchor
A door of hope
