What happens when Love comes

Scruffy and Penny were the last two dogs to be sold. They had been moved to the local kennels as Mr Brown had sold his farm and would be packing all the farm equipment and taking it to the local ‘Sale Yard.’ Before moving into a new townhouse in a few weeks’ time, everything on the farm would have to go!
Penny was a beautiful dog, she had a chestnut-coloured coat and deep brown eyes. The advert in the local weekly newspaper said that she was ‘’Very placid and good company.’’
Scruffy, well, he was just ‘’scruffy,’’ He had white fur that was quite wiry; he also had a mischievous, playful nature. The advert said he was a ‘’faithful dog,’’ which was very true.
With one week to go, Mr Brown had hoped reluctantly that both dogs would be sold, and then it happened. Out of the blue, Miss Pringle arrived at the Kennels with her chauffeur, Mr Scott, who had seen the advert for a dog that was ‘’ Very placid and good company.’’ and informed Miss Pringle. When she saw Penny, she fell in love with those deep brown eyes. Penny was just what she needed, and Miss Pringle was willing to pay more than the asking price. Penny would be such good company.
Sophie had visited the Kennels every single day for two weeks, she was quite ‘’smitten.’’ with Scruffy even though she had never had a pet before, To her Scruffy seemed different to all the other dogs and because he was always pleased to see her the Kennel owners let her walk him around the gardens, she didn’t mind picking up his mess as the kennel staff always provided her with a little black bag!
It was Mr Browns last day on the farm before moving to his new townhouse. All the boxes were packed, and he had just stopped to have a final pot of tea in his old house when his mobile rang. It was the lady from the Kennels who had a chat about Scruffy. She told Mr Brown how Sophie had visited Scruffy every day for the last two weeks but that her Mum couldn’t afford a dog as her Dad had very poorly legs and Sophie and her Mum had to look after him, The lady also told Mr Brown ‘’One day last week they all came to the kennels and Scruffy made Sophie’s dad laugh so much with his mischievousness that he cried with laughter,’’
‘’So Mr Brown,’’ she continued ‘’would you be willing to let Scruffy go free to this family or shall we ask for a price,’’ there was a pause from Mr Brown as he considered Scruffy’s welfare then Sophie’s happiness. ‘’don’t say anything but if I pay would it be possible for you to give Sophie a little bit of training on how to look after Scruffy,’’ ‘’ Well of course Mr Brown that’s very generous of you.’’ Mr Brown thought about his very first Dog and all the pleasure Sophie and Scruffy would have together. Then he answered in a gentle voice, “This is what happens when love comes.”
