You never left Jesus

You’re the doting Father
Who’d never deceive us
Confuse, mislead us
Now I can see
There’s no disaster
Could make you leave us

You never left Jesus
And you’ll never leave me
I’m so grateful
He became an offering
It was a choice
He gladly made
He was faithful
Through all his suffering
Now I rejoice
My debt is paid
You’re the doting Father
Who’d never deceive us
Confuse, mislead us
Now I can see
There’s no disaster
Could make you leave us
You never left Jesus
And you’ll never leave me
Oh I praise you
There’s no more wondering
About the way you
See me now
I’m blown away by
Your depth of love for him
And in your presence
I humbly bow
For when we read
The word ‘forsaken’
So many other words
That cry could mean
Turns out - the truth was
Lost in translation
Could mean ‘preserved’
Or ‘kept for me’!
You’re the doting Father
Who’d never deceive us
Confuse, mislead us
Now I can see
There’s no disaster
Could make you leave us
You never left Jesus
And you’ll never leave me
One day you said
To your disciples
I know you all
Will run back home
And though it looks like
I’m abandoned
My Father’s with me
I’m not alone
So I can see you
On the cross now
With arms of love
Wrapped round your waist
The tears of Him
You named your Father
As they smudged
Your blood-stained face
You’re the doting Father
Who’d never deceive us
Confuse, mislead us
Now I can see
There’s no disaster
Could make you leave us
You never left Jesus
And you’ll never leave me
