Before today (Easter reflection)

I bow down in sweet surrender
As I see nailed to a cross
One whose name the world remembers
Who was called the Son of God
As I gaze at him he gestures
From this moment I am free
Oh what love could be more tender
Than this love that I now see?
On the road up to Golgotha
He called out, “Oh do not weep
For I know where I am headed
And I know who’s going with me
Cry instead for all the others
That their hearts will be set free
Who although they’ve been invited
Are not ready to believe”
Where else exists a love
As beautiful as this
Whose every velvet whisper
Floods me like a kiss - in the rain
Finding in your eyes
A depth of holy supernatural bliss
Where I’m feeling more secure
Than I’ve never known before - today?
When he cried out ‘it is finished’
He was welcoming ‘the bride’
And the promise set before him
Gave him faith and strength to rise
Oh but nothing is diminished
Through the years that have gone by
Every second, every minute
Is the breath of paradise
Here I know the Father loves me
In his arms I long to stay
There’s no army could abduct me
Or could pull my heart astray
Love released my soul from prison
And has healed my heart from pain
For in Christ now I have risen
For his glory born again
Where else exists a love
As beautiful as this
Whose every velvet whisper
Floods me like a kiss - in the rain
Finding in your eyes
A depth of holy supernatural bliss
Where I’m feeling more secure
Than I’ve never known before - today?
