CHASING A REBEL

My tongue is so tired
From shallow and fruitless talk.
So parched, so dry,
I crave water in this drought.
Shoes worn, soles are shot
From crooked ways and dangerous walks.
I’m afraid to move forward.
This world is so fraught.
Where you are seems so far away.
Endless thoughts of how to please, how to do, what to be
Stuck in my own head; Thoughts of you roam in…
And then flow out like the sea.
Tides of life determining
What I choose to believe.
Truth is elusive,
But so clear to see.
Open my eyes!
Show me who you are.
My child, don’t you know Me?
Put your fingers in my scars.
We walked together,
Then you left me all alone.
In this house, once swept and polished to shine…
Floors gleaming, fire roaring,
Flowers blooming,
Peace was sublime.
I never left you.
You invited me in.
Did you ever think
You’d be without me again?
I would not, could not
Leave or walk away.
My blood is a covenant.
You are mine; I will stay
…Through the silence;
Through the doubt;
Through every bad decision,
And even through this drought.
This is man-made,
Consequence self- imposed.
Not by My will, but by yours.
Silence kills; your ignorance exposed.
Take my hand once again.
Let’s dance in the kitchen
…Windows open, curtains billowing,
Fragrance is wafting,
NO MORE MENTION
… Of past seasons left in shadow
Or evil partnerships of old.
All acquiescence of self-indulgence
Removed like dross, leaving gold.
So pick up the pen.
Rid yourself of useless chatter.
My words flow through vessels
Ready to hear and dictate the matter
…Of My heart to others
Who I choose as My own.
Scales will drop, and hearts will soften
Once they are shown.
The evil of men’s doings
Do not disqualify my love.
I chase them down like rebels.
Their redemption is from above.
How would they know?
Have they been told?
Religion is dead!
The truth must be bold!
And stated in My love
Without judgment or price.
For I came for the unlovely
In the name of Jesus Christ.
