Don’t put up the umbrella

Don’t put up the umbrella.

The thought crashed into her brain,

She stopped.

“What?” She said in her head,

“Don’t put up your umbrella.”

She looked all around.

Then the first big drop of rain

Landed on her face.

Then a second.

Then a third.

It became a trickle.

Quickly, a full-blown downpour.

But she stood there.

Face raised.

Eyes closed.

The rain ran down her face,

Her coat was soaked

But

And it was a big but

She just laughed.

It became a giggle.

She almost put her hands over her face,

Slowly she put her two arms out

And

Embraced the rain.

She wasn’t sure how long she stood there.

But her face, her hair,

Her clothes were soaked through.

Suddenly she began to run.

She splashed in the puddles.

Actually, jumped in them.

 She stopped

Chest heaving

She felt better than she had

In ages, months even.

The thought came again

“Don’t put up your umbrella.”

“Why, Lord?” she queried

“Because it is raining.”

“I know, Lord; I am wet through.”

“Yes, Child.”

“But I am raining on you in the Spirit

As well as the physical.”

“Oh!” was all she could say.

The physical rain continued to fall.

But in the Spirit, she was soaked as well.

She felt refreshed,

Even a bit joyous.

Now that really made her laugh.

How do you feel?

Do you want Father God to pour His rain on you?

Not sure?

Why not ask

He knows what will happen.

It will always be good.
