My Daddy dear

I’m often misunderstood
Sometimes I’ve been bitten
But it doesn’t matter now
The narrative’s rewritten
Cos it’s all for the good
And the glory of the kingdom
Here
I may have been misjudged
I may have been mishandled
Or more light was required
From my weak flickering candle
But it’s covered by the love
Nothing left of all the scandal
Here
As I look back on the past
Sort my wheat out from my chaff
I just smile and sweetly laugh
With you
My Daddy dear
How richly blessed we are
How easy now it is
From the bottom of the heart
To forget and to forgive
For the love that fills the void
Blows away the deadly noise
Of fear
There may have been a cyclone
There may have been been a storm
We may have viewed each other
With envy, hate or scorn
But we’ve crossed over the river
And nothing’s in the form
It once appeared
As I look back on the past
Sort my wheat out from my chaff
I just smile and sweetly laugh
With you
My Daddy dear
Maybe I had been criticised
Beaten to a blitz
By bitter words anaesthetised
My heart became a fridge
But these battles of my mind
Are water under the bridge
They’ve disappeared
As I gaze now at the cross
When all your friends had scattered
I also have felt lost
My hopes and dreams all shattered
But washed now by your blood
Only one thing now matters
This is clear
As I look back on the past
Sort my wheat out from my chaff
I just smile and sweetly laugh
With you
My Daddy dear
