My Prize

For I have set before me a choice,

A choice on which road to take.
Be it to the right or the left,
A simple choice I must make.
Be it the broad road,
Or will it be narrow?
One looks easy and inviting,
The other looks hard and fallow.
For to choose I must,
For upon it, my life depends,
As one leads to destruction,
The other pays dividends.
So, I choose wisely I must,
The road is narrow and restrictive
And turn from the broad road appealing,
That is, instead much afflictive.
One day I will be grateful,
To push along the road not pretty,
As I will see my destination,
The Glory of the Holy City.
This is my promised home,
The city of my God and King,
The city whose gates are always open
Who is ready to welcome me in.
There I will see my prize,
Seated on His throne so fervent,
And hear him say to me,
“My good and faithful servant.”
