No Front Door

It was the dawning of the morning
of that great and glorious day.
As creation held its breath,
awaiting Heaven's say
The disciples they had seen
Bad Friday in its full
Nothing good about it for them
As they questioned Heaven’s rule
They hid, they quaked and quivered
As they questioned what they’d seen
What miracles and teaching
Or was Jesus just has been?
The doubts, the fears, the trepidation,
What could they expect next?
Was Heavens best kept text.
The cross, the cruelty,
that friend’s betrayal
The Last Supper’s hope now broken
Yet Father’s Son
he was not done
Heaven’s plan had just awoken
The ladies came,
Spices in hand
To anoint the lifeless corpse
Then the shock they shared
At the rock they stared
The tomb had no front door
Who moved the stone?
It was the angel
Who’d come in a violent quake
The guards struck dumb
The tomb undone
No crime, and yet… jailbreak.
Do not fear
He is not here
He is risen just as he said
Why stand and stare?
He is not there
There’s no living among the dead
And as they gazed
into the tomb
The questions
filled their mind.
Where is Messiah, the Son of God?
There’s no body here to find.
Why do you weep?
Who do you seek?
At this empty broken prison
The gardener’s words
To God refers
The True Vine He is now risen
And so he stands
the risen Jesus
Alive and conquering son
He takes and breaks
the darkest day
New life has just begun
The dawn has dawned
The morning broken
It’s a great and glorious day.
Creation cries out He is risen
As Heaven displays The Way
So, Do not fear
He is not here
He is risen just as he said
Don’t stand and stare?
He is not there
There’s no living among the dead
But come to him
Your heart in hand
This risen life explore
He’s come to share
Why he’s not there
The tomb has no front door
