Potato

I had a dream where I was holding a potato in each hand. It was a large potato, a main crop potato, and it was just about to produce shoots; you could see the buds coming off the potato. It was full of promise.

And the Holy Spirit asked me, "What are you holding in your hands at the moment?"

"A maincrop potato" was my answer." What would you like me to do with it?"

This is what He said....

So, what's the Lord giving you today? What are you holding in your hands?

Whatever is planted will bear fruit of the same kind. It could be something as small as a tiny mustard seed that grows into a big, enormous plant, where you can shelter underneath its leaves in the shade of the sun. It could be a potato, a humble potato. 

This tuber is like the Word of the Lord.

It will feed you, produce many tubers, and feed many more, yielding a huge crop of fresh food. 

It will bear fruit for the future. If you plant this tuber, you'll get many, many other tubers, you will get a great harvest, and it will store well, it will last."

Ask Holy Spirit to guide you to give you the wisdom to know what crop you're holding, is it an early, i.e. short-term, quick to bear a harvest? Or is it a main crop potato? Maybe it is something that will produce a longer-term harvest, maybe even for others to harvest as it grows and matures?

Often, we may crave the crop or seed that is in the hands of another; it seems shinier, yet it will be useless to us and our Kingdom calling. We have to be careful that whatever we are holding doesn't turn into something we despise because we do not have eyes to see it as our maker does.

Sit with the Lord and ask him,

"What is the crop that I am holding?"

"Is it from you, or have I chosen it without asking you first, perhaps out of convenience, others' needs, or desperation to perform?

We compare ourselves with others; potatoes are also very large and ordinary.

The Lord could have given you something so ordinary at this time. So basic, but so essential for his Kingdom to advance that you totally ignore it!   If you look, you see the eyes on the potato, and you think it is past its date. You go to throw it in the bin, but actually, that potato may be the potato you should plant.

You will probably know that when you plant a potato, you plant it deep in the earth. As it grows, you keep covering it with soil, you keep nourishing it, our giftings are like that. You have to keep nourishing them. You have to keep feeding them with the word before they are useful and ready to use. 

Where do you need to plant it? Is that where you are now?

Do you need others to help you because it is a larger task made for many hands?

How deep do you need to plant it, is it a crop planted on the surface or does it need deep soil for deep roots and stability? When do you need to plant it, is it seasonal, do you need to do something else in that soil immediately after harvesting this one? Perhaps you are doing a juggling act with many seeds and crops at the same time. What do you need to prioritise right now? Farmers and growers often use crop rotation, this involves seasons of resting and planting, the Lord always does new things, don't expect this crop to look just like the last. Be prepared in and out of season. Are you in a season of resting or planting? Have you asked? [Proverbs 3 v5]

Do you need to get real with Him and repent for your doubt and delay in acting on his perfect planting instructions?

How deep do you need to go in the world to bear a rich harvest?

Don't plant something Father can't harvest, the seed or tuber must be from Him and not just a soulish whim or vain imagination![2 Corinthians 10:5]

Ah, yes, always water it well, with water from the well that never runs dry. [John 14.]

Oh, and have a rest when it is time, that way you won't get weary. [Isaiah 40 v31 ]

When a potato comes to harvest time, you almost think it's dead. The leaves turn yellow and straggly, and they droop a bit. Sometimes, the leaves get rust, which looks like orange dots or streaks. So, perhaps you think it's diseased and not useful anymore, but actually, that is perfect harvest timing - just the time when you least expect it to be.

You can harvest the fruit from the seed or tuber. But whatever you have planted, do it at the right time and then wait.

Ask is harvest time now? 

Can't you see that the harvest is plentiful? But the workers are few. NOW is the time of harvest.

Now is the time to re-examine that gift. The Lord has given you the promise that he made to you in the past. Can you not see it? It's rising up.  Can you not see it?

Examine today what's in your hands?

It may be unusual, it may be ordinary.

It may be useful, or it may be extraordinary.

The signs of the times are here; it is time to plant and reap.

What you plant will feed you.
