The colours of the Day

The first shafts of light
Began to stretch across the Eastern sky.
A new day had begun.
Purple, blue, pink
Slowly they stretched across the arc of the sky
Like gentle strokes of a paintbrush.
Their brilliance advanced.
A night became day.
The white fluffy clouds
Danced and floated like lambs frolicking.
As the morning advanced.
The azure blue spread
Like a brilliant blanket in all directions.
Then midday arrived.
The blazing yellow sun
Sent its light, warmth and radiance
Pulsating in all directions.
The full power of its heat
Burning back the clouds.
As if shouting
“Look at me, feel me, enjoy me.”
As the day moved
Into late afternoon.
The hazy hues of late afternoon
Exploded into the evening.
When purples, vibrant reds, dusky yellows
And finally inky darkness
Closed another day.
The loud quietness of the day was over.
Only to be repeated
In another explosion of colour, Tomorrow.
From dark grey to blazing yellow.
Why such extravagance?
Because He can.
Our Heavenly Father uses our Earth
As His personal paintbox.
He creates a different explosion every day.
We just need to look up and enjoy
The Tapestry.
Thank you, Creator God.
