The Honour in Giving

Most of us know what God’s Word tells us about giving. We’ve
taught this subject a few times ourselves. Our heart is to help
decipher or break what Church tradition teaches about tithing,
offering, and giving. Jesus taught about giving, and that it would
be given back multiplied (Luke 6:37-38). Jesus also taught the
dangers of hoarding up for oneself (Luke 12:16-21). The important
thing for most of us is to keep the Heavenly balance in all we do,
especially in our giving.
But why do we give? Is it protection money to keep the devourer
away (Malachi 3:11) or for God to open the windows of Heaven?
(Malachi 3:10). Most of us, at some point, have had to deal with
the manipulations and condemnations in our past concerning
tithes and offerings. I will say if your church or a ministry is
strong-arming you to give, walk away because building The
Kingdom of God is not first and foremost on their agenda.
Personally speaking, we have the opportunity and honour to give
into our Father’s House, and the rewards we receive, have
received, and will receive cannot be measured in just monetary
value, although that is part of it.
God never meant, nor has He tried to take money or anything
else from us. He doesn’t need our wealth. The Creator already
owns everything (Haggai 2:8, Job 41:11). Of all the reasons
God Almighty desires us to give begins with getting poverty out of
our minds. Poverty is a mindset of limitations. When God says,
“Give to Me,” His desire is not to take it from us, but to inevitably
bring it to us through Kingdom collaboration and stewardship.
Ultimately, God is seeking our heart. For most of us, our hearts are
tied to what we accumulate to a degree. Just being direct here.
In this big Ecclesia picture, people are taught to give but not
instructed how to rule and reign as a joint heir with Jesus Christ.
Most of us know the principles of tithes and offerings, but few
know how to steward the wealth of the Kingdom of God here on
earth. In other words, the Father wants us to be givers so that we
become rulers. We are heirs to the promises, Kingdom ambassadors,
and managers of Kingdom resources, not beggars looking for the
Heavenly handout if God deems us worthy.
We’ve learned how to give but not so much about how to multiply.
As God’s own, we’re not meant to merely survive or even thrive but
to reign and bring circumstance under submission to the power of
God within us.
Personally, we tithe, we give offerings, we sow, all those things. We
are part of a good church that builds churches and supplies
needs for pastors globally, as well as fills the needs in our local
communities. We don’t pay church tax or spiritual protection
money to a heavenly mob boss. We don’t have to give; we get to
give to the Kingdom of God here on earth through our church and
our own ministry. Like Jesus, ours is to build people for Kingdom
inheritance, not monuments to self or past acts and moves of
God.
As we offer all that we are, please remember that God desires His
very best for us all. Let us break the chains of past bondage of
giving from fear to living for the honour of giving, amen.
