Undivided Heart

Teach me your way, Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart that I may fear your name. Psalm 86:11

Is your heart divided? Does it still crave the things that it wants? Is there a constant battle within you that wants your own will and wants to do the will of God?

You are not alone. King David knew he had a divided heart when he wrote those words. On the one hand, he had this hard, polluted heart that only wanted its own needs met, and on the other hand, he had the heart of flesh that was submitted to God and wanted what he wanted.

He knew like Apostle Paul when he says in Romans, "For what I am doing I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, I do. This is because of the sin that has been allowed to dwell in the heart and to divide it", and Paul goes on to say "O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?" And continues, "I thank God through Jesus Christ, our Lord!

That is the point: when Jesus is truly Lord in your heart, you will have a heart united to his and not divided. Ezekiel describes this united heart as a heart of flesh obedient to God's law and statutes. With an undivided heart, a heart of flesh, we can please God and live the promised life of abundance.

So exchange your divided stoney heart and allow the Lord to give you an undivided fleshy heart so that he can live through you and you can experience his abundant life. It's your choice; choose wisely, says the Lord.

Then I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within them, and take the stony heart out of their flesh, and give them a heart of flesh, 20 that they may walk in My statutes and keep My judgments and do them; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God. Ezekiel 11:19-20

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10
