WE WILL REMEMBER

For all our tomorrows
They gave their today
Grandfather's to father's
Father's and their sons
The battlefield whistle blows
One lets out a deathly cry
Why should I live, yet he dies
For their loss is our reply.
Here now we're standing together
Side by side, shoulder to shoulder
The soldier, veteran and the stranger
Never to forget, always to remember
Poppy fields teach us to pause
Look from their fields to the skies
A Falling leaf like a widow's tear
Speaks a solemn whisper of thanks
At the cenotaph, names we knew
The role-call of names unfamiliar
Yet with one voice together we say,
'We will remember them.'
