Who are you
Have you ever wondered who you are?
Have you struggled to understand thus far?
Have you tried to work it out only to be confused?
Have you asked others only to be badly bruised?
Who you are is often hidden within you,
You don't see it, know it and don't have a clue.
And yet others speak over you lies,
Breaking your heart with tears fill your eyes.
Do you remember that word that cuts so deep?
That word so harsh it broke you and made you weep?
Do you remember the effect it had on your soul?
That word so large, so ugly, it left a gaping hole?
Who are they to tell you who you are?
You're the one left with that ugly scar?
Why is that pain, that cut, that lie so very deep?
The hurtful, lying, deceitful words so cheap.
But that is not what you are intended to be;
You would know this if you were only to see.
You are made in the image of your Creator,
One who loves you and views of you are greater.
So, listen to what He has to say about you,
He's the one who knows and speaks what is true.
It's the Lord who named you and gave you your role,
A purpose that will satisfy the longing of your soul.
