Before we get to twenty-thirty

‘Laity and clergy’
Is just ‘absurdy’
Sermons all get
Far too wordy
All our goals
End up too worldly
They make the church
A hurdy-girdy
Father we’re so
Dry and thirsty
By your blood
We all are worthy
Before we get to
Twenty-thirty
Pour on us
You grace and mercy!
‘Laity and clergy’
Pointless journey
Spoken words
Go weird and burbly
Turn the cream
All sour and curdly
They make the church
Go topsy-turvy
Father we’re so
Dry and thirsty
By your blood
We all are worthy
Before we get to
Twenty-thirty
Pour on us
You grace and mercy!
Religion makes
Our vision blurry
Controlling spirits
Make me squirmy
Being a laity
You’ve never told me
And I’ve no desire
To be a clergy !!
Father we’re so
Dry and thirsty
By your blood
We all are worthy
Before we get to
Twenty-thirty
Pour on us
You grace and mercy!
Masks and rituals
Just unnerve me
Holy seasons
Maundy Thurs-dee
I can’t see that
Laity or clergy
Has being a part
Of my Jesus journey!!
Father we’re so
Dry and thirsty
By your blood
We all are worthy
Before we get to
Twenty-thirty
Pour on us
You grace and mercy!
Roads are smooth
Or roads are jerky
The only thing
That would deter me
Is if the lesser
Were classed as laity
And all the better
Were revered as clergy !
Father we’re so
Dry and thirsty
By your blood
We all are worthy
Before we get to
Twenty-thirty
Pour on us
You grace and mercy!
