For My Yoke is easy, and My Burden is Light

Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30

This is a time of year when most of us can become weary and burdened with all the expectations and demands put upon us that we find it difficult to rest. We lie in bed worrying about all the things we have to do, and then we are so busy during the day getting everything sorted for the holiday session. Rest does not really factor in the equation, and at the end of it all, we are beyond weary and heavily burdened. 

But there is another way, and Jesus asks us first to “come,” to come with your burdens and weariness into his presence as he has a gift for you – Rest. In that place, you can exchange your burdens for his yoke, give him our weariness, and receive rest. And I hear you ask – how is a yoke be easy? But it is not a yoke like an animal would wear. He is offering his hand; he is stretching out his hand to you right now, and all you have to do is take it. Let him hold your hand, and he will guide you, protect you and comfort you.

So, come and take hold of Jesus's hand now, and allow him to help you navigate through this season in a state of rest.
