I couldn’t find the way to go,
Until I saw you up ahead.
So, I hurried my pace to you,
And you heard me and turned.
Hello, you said, how are you?
"I’m lost", I said. Which way do I go?
You replied Why don’t you know,
You’ve lived here all your life.
I’ve never been this way before,
It is all very strange to me now.
Everything has changed too much,
I’m flummoxed about which way to go.
They said, "continue to go straight up",
Take a left-hand turn and you're there.
I said my farewell and off I went again,
But soon I lost my way once more.
This road I have never seen before,
Had they sent me the wrong way?
Had I misheard the instructions,
In the neighbourhood, I’m lost again.
Suddenly, I turned onto a busy road,
There you caught up with me,
You had seen me up ahead,
Now we walked back together.
Here I let you take the lead,
You knew the right roads home.
With you by my side, I felt reassured,
Soon back to the place I recognise.
"Thank you", I said for rescuing me,
"No problem", you reply with a smile.
For that’s what friends are for,
Being there for each other, whatever.
Now, to this end, was this a dream?
Could it have been another adventure?
Who am I to know all the facts?
Let's hope I wasn't out sleepwalking.
