The one who was cursed upon the cross,
He took my pain, my tears, my loss.
He took my pain, my tears, my loss.
The one who was cursed upon that cross,
The one who hung there nailed with grace
He became a curse to take my place.
He became a curse to take my place.
The one who hung there nailed with grace
He hung the law upon that tree
He hung the law that I go free
He hung the law that now I see
When he hung the law upon that tree
For upon that tree made good the law
Fulfilled its facts yet broke its jaw.
It has no voice, it has no sound
I live, I’m free, I am unbound.
It has no power, where is its weight,
It has no hold, it has no place,
It has no right, there is no law,
He clutched my less, I grabbed His more
And so I soak, aflood with grace
His freely given exchanged place
There is no law, there is no curse,
I got the best, he got my worst.
So I stop, I stare, I stay, I stand
Law’s curse now crushed at His command
I behold the suffering servant hang
My friend,…
