The pink flower

The pink flower danced in the long grass.
Its petals were small but perfectly formed.
The yellow centre looked like a little yellow sun
But the single dewdrop sparkled like a diamond.
The tall grass waved gracefully
A butterfly fluttered and danced over the grasses
It landed lightly on the flower.
As the heat of the day grew
The grass bent in the clawing heat,
The little flower just smiled at the sun.
As the day moved to a close
The flower continued to follow the sun
Tracking its every move.
Following it relentlessly
As the day grew cooler
Animals moved further into the field
Like a chomping army.
They ate and ate and ate.
But somehow the little flower was missed.
Then one day, a small child came running through the grass.
She noticed the pink flower
She stopped.
Knelt down and gently touched the petals
“Mummy, look a jewel.” She cried
“Yes, sweetheart, a perfect jewel, shining in its proper place.”
Is that you?
A jewel shining in your proper place.
