The Watchman

The watchman stood on the wall.
He looked out to the horizon.
Yes alert
Watching
Seeing
Observing
Sometimes it was hard being alone.
Other times it was good.
Then He saw it.
A little bit of dust
Kicked up in the distance.
Just where the Land and Sky meet!
He was alert
He continued to watch
Yes, it was getting bigger.
Was it the wind?
No
It was!
It was!
Horsemen?
Who were they?
More alert than ever
He continued to watch
Then He saw it
The colours.
Not friendly colours
So, He put his hand to His horn
And He blew.
One second. Two
Then the noise began
Men shouting
Women and children running.
In a few minutes
Everything changed
Men on the ramparts
In the watchtowers
Gates closed
All on high alert
Battle-ready.
Nice story
But is that You?
Has your Heavenly Father
Called you to be the watchman on the walls?
Do you look for the enemy?
His lies
His deceit
Are you the one called to sound the Alarm?
To keep the church safe?
To protect!
The vulnerable
The weak
The broken
The lonely
Are you called to be our watchman here?
If so
Pray
Like never before
Because they need You.
The vulnerable
The lonely
The weak
The broken
The unlovely
The ignored
The damaged
He is calling You.
Again
He, Jesus, is calling.
Heed His call
Answer it
And
PRAY
Like never before.
Go on a journey
Of a lifetime.
You and Jesus
It will break your heart,
But it will
Allow you to become
Who He called and created You to be.
