You are Mighty to Save

This morning, I woke up to the song “You are mighty to save,” which made me think. So, I asked the Lord this question: Where are you mighty to save in my life and that of my family?

Then the Lord responded by pointing me to the full verse, which is: The Lord your God is with you; he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, and he will rejoice over you with singing. Zeph, 3;17. And yes, He is speaking about Israel, but it is also about His beloved people and therefore about you and me and yours and mine family, too.

So, let's break down the verse and extract the gold. Firstly, the Lord your God is with you. What a wonderful statement. Once you were outside the camp, an outcast, an enemy of God, but now that you have been brought into the Kingdom of His marvellous love and grace and made to be a son or daughter of the Most High God.

For I AM is with you, I AM will not forsake you. I AM is with you to the end of the age. I AM is not going anywhere; I AM will always be with you. If I AM is with you, who can be against you? Not only does with mean close proximity, but it also means for you, and he has your best interests at heart.

And yes, He is mighty to save, which means I AM has the strength, power, and ability to rescue you from all your calamities and difficulties. The word save, the original word used here, is the word Yâša, which means to open, want to be safe; free or succour, avenge, defend, deliver, help, preserve, rescue, be safe, bring salvation, save and get victory. And this is what I AM is able to do with his might.

Next, I will take great delight in you, which means I AM will take pleasure in you being glad and joyful, which is a wonderful picture of a proud father celebrating over his son.

I will quiet you with my love, which has a deep meaning in the word quiet, (hâraš) means in the original text to engrave, to plough, as well as to rest, keep silent, be silent, and be still. The picture here is to bring about a place where there is no struggle or work, only rest, for you have His mark of ownership, engraved with His love mark, so that you know His love.

The last part of the verse again has such depth as a word rejoice, (giyl) means to spin around under the influence of any violent emotion, to be glad, joy and joyful. The picture here is of I AM whirling around in a joyful dance full of love for you, with great celebration and exuberance.

And singing, (rinâ), means a creaking or shrill sound, a shout of joy, cry, gladness, joy proclamation, triumphal singing and praise.

Can you see that in the Spirit and hear my delight, says the Lord, as I dance and sing with loud shouts of joy, this is how excited I AM about you, how wonderfully I AM excited about with my beloved child, the one whom I love, dancing, singing, and shouting, proclaiming the joy of being near you and saving you. Look at my emotion, look upon my power, know I am for you, and celebrate that you are mine. Know my delight and love for you, know that I save you and brand you as my own so that you may have my rest, says the Lord.
