First Choice

Do you remember gathering with others to play a football game when you were young? The captains would call the name of their first-choice player because they wanted them on their side to win the game. The captains had seen them play before and seen their ability, skills and fitness. The one who was the first choice felt privileged and honoured by the captain, who showed so much faith in them and saw something special in their ability.

And the Spirit of the Lord has you know today that you are his first choice. The Captain has chosen you and picked you out as special. He wants you in the team, and He wants your skills, abilities and attributes. He is giving you His strategy to play, and the position on His team is yours. He is trusting you with that responsibility. You have been welcomed, honoured and appreciated; the Captain has seen how you have been faithful, skilful and trustworthy in what He has given you thus far. He is now choosing you first, on His winning team, to bring Him glory.

And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, a Man stood opposite him with His sword drawn in His hand. And Joshua went to Him and said to Him, Are You for us or for our adversaries? So He said, No, but as Commander of the army of the LORD, I have now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshipped, and said to Him, what does my Lord say to His servant? Then the Commander of the LORD army said to Joshua, take your sandal off your foot, for the place where you stand is holy. And Joshua did so. Joshua 5:13-15
