The Deceptiveness of Pride

We all know the scripture, “Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall,” Proverbs 16:18, which warns us to remain humble.

But do we know that pride comes in many forms and disguises itself so as not to be exposed?

We may look on the outside to be doing the most vital things, even in the Kingdom, but pride exerts itself and seeks position in our hearts. It likes to make us think we have the righteous position and that others don’t…. that we have the moral high ground. But the warning still exists that if we operate in pride, we will suffer a fall, an exposure, a loss, a humiliation.

So, the Spirit of The Lord says,

‘Do not be deceived, for I will not be mocked. Examine your heart and allow Me to show you attitudes that stem from a place of pride. Rend your heart as David did, and by doing so, act in humility; I will lift you up to a higher place. So, to be exalted, get down low. Follow my example and imitate my position. I didn't consider death on a cross as below me.’

Activation: Pray this prayer. Lord, I open my heart to you, allow you to examine it, and expose all hidden pride. I choose to bow the knee again and submit to You and Your will for my life, and I repent of all pride. Amen.

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore, God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name, which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:5-11 NKJV

Now, therefore, says the LORD, turn to Me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning. So rend your heart, and not your garments. Return to the LORD your God, for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness; and He relents from doing harm. Joel 2:12-13 NKJV
